Eptikar: A Sudanese Software Powerhouse

Eptikar IT was founded by two Sudanese entrepreneurs, who are Mohanad Ali and Mohamed Nimir in 2010 as a self-funded tech startup to provide robust changemaking impactful software solutions.

Their main craft is high-quality custom-made software applications, websites, mobile applications, and software systems for companies, startups, SMEs, Governmental entities, NGOs, and others.

Eptikar’s first paying customer was two senior telecom engineers, they hired us to develop a
web-app MVP for a side business they were launching. This was a few months before our
official incorporation and we used the profits from this project to pay for our lawyer and company
registration. We learned so much from this first project, the two engineers were also very
supportive and gave us valuable lessons in scope locking and project management. We are still
friends with them until now.

Their portfolio include, but are not limited to:

i) A software solution for Sayga agrifood brand to fight off corrupt practices of stealing and smuggling of crops in the shipping operations from and to Sayga facilities.

ii) A locally developed monitoring and evaluation mobile app that is similar to Kobo forms for field workers of International Medical Corps to collect and share data with the HQ office, but custom made for the requirements and needs of the NGO

Both Eptikar founders are seasoned technical-founders and our small team are all senior
software engineers. This gave us a unique advantage as we all share great love and passion for
building great software using opensource tools and technologies.

Their clients reached over a hundred, who got served by Eptikar in the fields of E-learning, data collection, anti corruption software, real estate, fleet management, tourism, travel, fintech, healtchare, and e-commerce.

Currently they have three offices which are located in:

2. United States of America
3. Oman

Like all other Sudanese business, the tragic war of April, 2023 was a true existential and
survival challenge for us. Starting over is super difficult both on a personal level and for a
company and I can’t say the past 10 months journey were easy.
Alhamdolilah, we are in much better position now but ofcourse we still have a lot of work to re-
establish/re-position Eptikar and its spin-off ventures.
